About Coach Hoover
Justin Hoover began his coaching career in 1998 as the Head Royce High School JV girl’s coach. He received his first coaching certification from Gold Medal Squared in 2001 studying directly from the late Carl McGown, two-time US olympic team volleyball coach and head coach of BYU. Hoover continued to coach the Colgate University D-1 women’s club volleyball team from 2001-2003. From 2003-2009 he coached high school and club volleyball in the Bay Area with M-Power, Xceleration, Golden Bear, and St. Mary’s College High School.
Justin currently is the Head Coach for the College of Alameda, Piedmont High School Varsity Beach Volleyball team, as well as coaches indoors teams for Piedmont High School. He is a Head Coach for Golden Bear Club and coaches with the Red Rock Beach program.
Born and raised in the Bay Area., his high school team were CIF Champions in 1998 and were CIF Finalists in 1999. He also played four years of club volleyball with Golden Bear and The Academy making a bid for nationals. After high school, Justin attended college at Colgate University where he played D-I varsity ice hockey but left the team after a year to play club volleyball. He played for Colgate University’s club volleyball team competing against D-3 schools across NY State. Justin also played in France with the University of Dijon during his study abroad. Hoover continues to compete in the CBVA in men’s doubles beach volleyball and is an avid martial artist and yoga practitioner.
